Fish Description: Skin color is pinkish red over the entire body and more white towards the bottom. Red Snapper have a long triangular snout with an anal fin sharply pointed and no dark lateral spot.
Size: To 20 pounds.
Remarks: Juveniles occur over sand or mud bottoms and are often taken in shrimp trawls. Red Snappers are known to live over 20 years and can be up to 35 pounds or more. Sexual maturity is attained at age 2. They feed on crustaceans and fish.
